Tipperary,
One beautiful spring morning I park my car.....
and reach over to the passenger seat to collect the wooden Y shaped stick
curiously lying there.
Soon I'm sitting at a small kitchen table, a steaming mug of tea
cupped warmly in my hands.
I'm here primarily to divine for a well on a farm
but there's a little time too for general conversation
as I trade stories, yarns and folklore with my host here this fine fresh morning.
I'm reminded for a moment just how blessed I am to be involved
in this traditional divining work.
This simple wooden divining rod which now sits waiting close by on the table
has become such a traditional icon down the years
so it’s seen as a veritable traditional healer’s calling card in the countryside.
I wasn't long doing this work before I realized
the key role the water diviner's art plays in native rural tradition.
It is a plainly demonstrated traditional skill and widely respected as such.
That crooked wooden divining rod on the table opens the door
to many a secret memory and story
provided you have the sincere heart to go with your divining skill,
When a traditional diviner is searching for water in the ground
the divining reaction you notice is due to changes
in the earth magnetic field where these things occur.
These changes are picked up in a diviner’s body
as they cross over the ground where the water vein is located.
The geo-magnetic field, as we've seen earlier in the book,
is the force which keeps us here on the ground we don't go floating off into Space.
It is produced in part by the material of the Earth
and the rotation of the molten core
relative to the ground surface material of the planet.
Where water is running underground
this creates a much more intensified field.
That's why in the wilder places of nature
it is easy to visually see the line of such streams
by the way they distort the growth of vegetation in their path.
Ground magnetic changes affect your muscle co-ordination.
The advantage of using the divining rod is that it emphasizes that for you
so it can be seen more easily.
That's essentially how the water diviner works
